The perfect day for you might not be the perfect day for me, but when I think of shooting the Canex, the newest pellet rifle from Umarex, a perfect day might include a fresh box of CO2, a tin of pellets, a whole stack of Shoot-N-C adhesive targets, and a couple of old boxes to stick the targets to. The Canex is a simple pellet rifle, that is to say that it has a very simple interface, and offers shooters an enormous return on their investment. Since the Canex is powered by two 12g CO2 cartridges, there is no wrestling match with the barrel for each shot or an expensive and time consuming pump needed to power it up either. Just unscrew the CO2 piercing screw found under the removable stock shoulder pad and install the first cartridge with the tip pointed toward the muzzle and the second cartridge with the tip facing the back of the rifle.

The casual observer will have noted from the title of this blog that straight wall cartridges are most certainly firearms and that observation is correct in both connotation and denotation. There’s no alternative interpretation that is applicable. Now your mind jumps– “Is Umarex making a .45-70 or 360 Buckhammer rifle?”

Yeah, I meant what I said– It’s August and you need to bundle up! No, I’m not talking about layering your clothes for cold weather, but rather layering up our Range Ready, Ammo, Hunting and other bundles found on our website. We have spent quite a bit of time working on these bundles to ensure there is a fair deal for you as a consumer. About a year ago we started selling the Notos .22 caliber PCP air rifle. Or is it an air pistol? Whatever it is and whatever form you choose to use it in, you guys evidently thought very highly of this little bumblebee of an airgun. We’ve actually had a difficult time keeping them in stock, which is a positive in that the Notos is popular, but also a negative in that it has been so hard to attain for many people.

The Komplete is officially in the retail stream at this moment. This is good news for all of you airgunners who were looking to score the first ever NitroAir powered air rifle. We were pretty certain the Komplete was going to be a hit when we announced it and we have not been disappointed. Our retail partners have been very enthusiastic about the Komplete, too. So much so that you might be better off looking for a Komplete at one of those retailers.

I don’t know why I let this surprise me. It’s the same thing every summer, and, honestly, it makes a lot of sense– summer is just the time to be outside and doing fun things with the family and your friends. That being the case, we have noticed that the Legends series air guns have been enjoying brisk sales this summer. For the reasons above and a few to follow, our Legends BB pistols and carbines go with summer like lemonade and mosquitoes. Except lemonade is refreshing and tastes great and getting close to a mosquito is preferable only if there's a politician buzzing around you at the same time.

I hope you got a kick out of that title. At times it seemed the only target that was hit was the mountain. The Utah wind can be flat out diabolical. But here I am getting way out over my skis with this story and I haven’t even set the stage.

July is here. Summer is here. Summer is, and to be fair, spring, too, the season for outdoor recreation. It’s also the season for long waits at the emergency room should you find yourself in need of such services. I live in a rural area. Just a few miles north and east of my little community is a large swath of national forest that has a nice network of trails where people can ride dirt bikes, all terrain vehicles, side-by-sides, and Jeeps.

It comes in waves. What? Well, lots of things. Good things, bad things, Inconsequential things, highly consequential things, and things that mean nothing to anyone but you, and things that mean everything to the people who surround you. Waves of productivity and waves of stagnation. Waves of joy and waves of grief. Each yearly journey around the sun draws the sea up for these waves, the ones that bless us and the ones that swamp us and in between there’s a calm where things are just moving along fine– smooth sailing.

What’s been happening for Umarex in 2024? Quite a lot actually. We thought we’d take a few moments to show you guys what you’ve been buying, first in the BB replica category. In a later installment we will look at pellet rifles, and then accessories. You might be missing out on something you didn’t even know we had!
